arbiter of style

since 2013

Since 2013, ‘aTribeCalledStyle’ has served and evolved as a source of inspiration through visual narration. Drawing influence from myriad areas of menswear, music, literature, art and design to mention a few, the platform champions and celebrates the ideology of style in all its forms.

Akin to the old adage, “It takes a village to raise a child’, the ideology that birthed “aTribeCalledStyle” is inspired by the tribe of men that have inspired the man I’ve become. Myriad men with values, ideals, purpose, and a penchant for style - my father, my maternal grandfather, men I admired in my formative years, style icons, friends and acquaintances. Men who celebrated individualism and understood the art of living.

As an embodiment of its purpose and the aforementioned philosophy, this platform seeks to share inspiration and build connections with other men through a shared and deeply-rooted affinity for style in all of its forms. Contrary to popular opinion, I believe style transcends items of clothing. It is a personification of “the Man” and “the life he leads” - “it is a way of life”.

Through content creation and collaborations, the aim is to inspire generations of men to ‘look, feel and become’ the best version of themselves.

Babs Joseph Odunlami

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Babs has lived in England for most of his adult life. A quintessential aesthete, his interest in menswear and style was predominantly shaped from an early age by both his parents. His father, Emmanuel, whose status as a senior banking executive demanded that he was always immaculately presented, and his mother Eunice, a textile designer and successful businesswoman served as early influences that fostered his interest in classic dress. His personal style has however evolved over the years through inspiration from his many travels, varied interests and other influences.

Despite a demanding career leading cross-functional teams in delivering emerging technology initiatives for financial services organisations, Babs founded “aTribeCalledStyle” an outlet to express his affinity for menswear and share his Anglo-African perspective on style and culture.

A Warwick Business School Executive MBA scholar, Babs has invaluable knowledge and understanding of how organisations operate efficiently. An aesthete with an incredible eye for detail, Babs is affiliated with and has collaborated with a host of brands within the menswear sphere. Applying his expertise and leveraging his global network, he helps steer their product development, route-to-market strategy, and building an all-important connection with existing and prospective audiences.

An arbiter of style, Babs believes style transcends items of clothing, “it is a way of life”.
